Your Questions Answered

Frequently Asked Questions

Who are hospice aides and what do they do?

Trained caregivers who provide personal care such as bathing, grooming, toileting, repositioning, and light personal tasks under a nurse-directed plan.

Will the aide give medications or change dressings?

No. Aides provide non-clinical care. Medications and dressings are managed by nursing per the hospice plan of care.

Can we request a male or female aide or note cultural preferences?

Yes. We do our best to honor preferences for privacy, modesty, and cultural practices when scheduling.

How long are aide visits and can we request specific times?

Visits typically last 30–60 minutes. We coordinate timing based on need and availability and will note preferred times when possible.

Do hospice aides provide overnight or 24/7 care?

Aides do not stay overnight. For urgent needs, hospice provides 24/7 on-call nursing; during certain crises, continuous care may be arranged when eligible.

What should we prepare for an aide visit?

Have towels, toiletries, clean clothing, incontinence supplies, and mobility devices ready. Share preferences or concerns so we can support you comfortably and safely.
